Incoming president, James Cooksey of Texhoma High School, presided over
the meeting. The treasurer's report for the 2008-2009 expenses was
reviewed by all present, showing a balance of $500.63 remaining for the
new year. Participating schools were reminded by Mr. Cooksey to send
yearly conference membership dues of $75.
Alesia Bryant of Laverne was elected Vice President/Secretary. With this
election, Laverne was named the site for the Red Carpet Conference Banquet
on Monday, December 7.
Sheryl Melton reminded the group of the Thursday, September 10, rules
meeting headquarted at Beaver High School. The meeting will begin at 6:30
P.M. and may be able to be received through IPod cast.
Nancy Roberts of Yarbrough informed the group of the Saturday,September
12, clinic to be held at Redlands College. Registration is at 8:30 A.M.
with the first session beginning at 9:00 A.M. The clinic will present such
informative sessions as a rules meeting, an All-State form clarification
session, and a briefing on the new question company the state has chosen
to use. After Ms. Roberts informed the group that the state decided to use
Questions Galore for the testing company, it was decided by those present
that the Red Carpet Conference would use the same company as the state to
better acquaint students with state competition questions. Ms. Roberts
also urged all coaches with All-State hopefuls to become members of OSSAA
since a new ruling was made requiring a coach's membership for All-State
recognition.
